Week of Feb. 12-16 | Valentine's Day, Black History Month, School Council

Valentine’s Day is Wednesday February 14. It is a day when people show love and friendship to each other and tell their friends and family that you care about them. People often give cards with nice messages, and share sweets or small gifts. It's a day to celebrate love and kindness!

Classes will be holding small celebrations and may have special activities planned. During this celebration, students may exchange Valentine's cards and small tokens of friendship with their classmates. If your child would like to participate, please ensure that the cards or treats are inclusive and brought in for the entire class. We encourage a positive and inclusive atmosphere, focusing on the spirit of friendship. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you would like further information.

February is Black History month. The 2024 theme is: “Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build. This month provides us with a valuable opportunity to recognize and honor the contributions of Black Canadians to our nation's history, culture, and society. Classrooms have planned various educational activities, events, and discussions that will highlight the achievements, struggles, and rich cultural heritage of Black Canadians.

Looking to make an impact in our school community? Come out to the School Council on Wednesday February 14 from 6:30 to about 7:30. The grade 6 teachers will be presenting. Ms Bartel will be sharing our school development plan and budget report. We are looking for parental feedback and creative ideas.

A reminder that report cards are available online on the MyCBE app or online. If your student has an Individualized Program Plan (IPP), the updated plan has been sent home. Please sign and return or contact your child’s teacher.
