Urgent: Volunteers Needed for Our School Casino Fundraiser – July 4 & 5, 2025

We are reaching out to ask for your support in our upcoming Casino Fundraiser on July 4 & 5, 2025, taking place at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. This event is absolutely vital to our school, as the funds raised help provide enhanced learning opportunities, upgraded resources, and improved facilities for our children. Without these funds, many of the programs and extras that make our school exceptional wouldn’t be possible.

How You Can Help

We need volunteers to fill various roles throughout the two-day event. No previous experience is necessary, and training will be provided on-site. If you're available, we would love to have you for one or more shifts.

**Please note that if you volunteer for multiple shifts, you must remain in the same position for each shift.**
This is one of the most impactful ways you can contribute to our school community. Volunteering at a casino is a fun, easy way to make a big difference! If you’re interested, please sign up as soon as possible to secure your preferred spot. Thank you in advance for your support—we couldn’t do this without you!

To ask any questions, please email or Cole Porter at acadiacasino@gmail.com.

Tennis Lessons

Through the support of the Acadia School Council, students will have the opportunity to have a tennis residency at Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre, 295 90 Ave SE. This activity is within our walking zone and students will go twice during the month of April. Class-specific details will be sent out at the beginning of April. We need volunteers to walk with students to and from the Tennis Centre. This is an excellent opportunity that needs a volunteer in every classroom to work!  Thank you, School Council, for your generous support!

Outdoor School

If you missed the presentation about Grade 6 attending Outdoor School, see the video on YouTube.

Head Lice

We have had a number of head lice cases reported in the school. As a precaution, we are asking all parents to check their child's head frequently over the next few weeks.

You can find more information on lice on the CBE Website.

If your child has head lice, please contact the school and let us know. Additional questions or concerns can be answered by Alberta HealthLink at 811.

Free Community Parent Education Program

On behalf of Hull Services, I wish to invite you to share the attached poster about a FREE Community Parent Education Program (CPEP) with the families from your school community. This program is lead by experienced Hull Services employees and runs once a week for 8 weeks. No referral or social service involvement needed, it’s free to any interested parent, adult and/or caregiver AND their children aged 5-12. The course focuses on teaching effective parenting skills, coupled with a children’s social skills group. The children’s group will focus on social skills such as how to listen, how to accept no/disappointment, how to express their feelings and how to deal with being angry/frustrated.

The topics we discuss in the parent group are:

  • Relationship Building and Positive Behaviour
  • Reducing Conflict and Managing Transitions Successfully
  • Special Incentives and Collaborative Planning
  • Effective Consequences and Problem Solving Strategies

We are pleased to announce that Children's Village School, in the NE community of Renfrew, will be hosting the upcoming course this spring. The start date of the course is Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 6:00pm. Please find the program schedule attached with important information about location, dates, times and how to register. Feel free to photocopy and email or distribute to any interested party. We welcome any school inquiries or questions you may have. The email to register is HullCPEP@hullservices.ca. One of our facilitators will be able to answer questions from parents and collect their information for registration.
