Terry Fox Run: bring a Toonie for Terry! https://schools.terryfox.ca/97677

Severe Allergy Awareness

Grade 1 Ms. Fulmes’ class has a student with a severe allergy to walnuts, tree nuts, peanuts, and nut products (including nutella). Please ensure that snacks and lunches are nut-free to help keep everyone safe. We appreciate that this might be an inconvenience. Thank you!

Terry Fox Run
Our annual Terry Fox School Run will take place on Friday, September 12. This event is held in honour of Terry Fox, who began his “Marathon of Hope” in 1980 to raise awareness and funds for cancer research after losing his leg to cancer. Though he was unable to complete his cross-Canada run, Terry’s courage and determination continue to inspire millions each year.

Our school is proud to join thousands of others across the country in keeping Terry’s dream alive. If you are able, please consider donating online at schools.terryfox.ca/97677. We will also collect “Toonies for Terry” on the day of the event. Last year we raised $688 – let’s see if we can beat that! Together, we can make a difference!

Parent Access to the Playground and Field

We kindly remind families that for safety reasons, parents and guardians should not be on the school field or playground areas during recess and lunch. These times are supervised by school staff, and it’s important that students can play freely in a safe and consistent environment.

If you need to pick up your child, drop something off, or connect with staff, please come through the school office. This helps us maintain a secure and positive space for all students. Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe.

Field and Playground Safety

A few reminders to help keep everyone safe during recess and lunch breaks:

  • No soccer cleats at school: While we permitted cleats during our soccer residency last spring, students are now getting stepped on and kicked. For safety reasons, cleats are not allowed during recess or lunch play.
  • Use equipment properly: Students should play safely on swings, slides, and climbing structures—taking turns and keeping hands and feet to themselves.
  • Stay in designated areas: Please remind your child to remain in supervised field and playground areas during recess and lunch.
  • Kindness and fair play: We encourage students to include others, use respectful language, and follow the rules of the game.

Thank you for supporting a safe and positive play environment for all students!
