Important Dates for this week:  

Back to School BBQ 

Join us for our Back to School BBQ on Thursday, September 18, from 4:30–7:00 PM! This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, meet staff, and celebrate the start of a new school year together. School council will be serving free hot dogs (including vegan and halal options). Then you can head into the school and tour your child’s classroom. We look forward to seeing you there! 

Book Sale Donations 

Grade 6’s are collecting gently used books for our upcoming Book Sale during the School BBQ! If you have books at home that are ready for a new reader—children’s books, novels, or non-fiction—please consider donating them. Donations can be sent to your child’s teacher, or dropped off at the school office during regular hours. Thank you for helping us make this event a success! 

Terry Fox Run  

We had a great Terry Fox Run on Friday, with perfect weather. We also heard from a special guest speaker, Mitchell Shaw, a young Calgarian who had cancer similar to Terry Fox. A heartfelt thank you to the Raunest family and all our families for their generous support of the Terry Fox initiative. So far we’ve raised $560 for cancer research! We will continue to collect “Toonies for Terry” in the office next week, or you can donate online at schools.terryfox.ca/97677. Together, we can make a difference! 

Attendance 

Before school begins for the day, please call the school 403-777- 8440 to let us know if your child will be absent or late.  This will help us ensure that all Acadia students are safe and that their attendance record will be accurate. 

After you call the school: 

• press 1, and leave your message on the Attendance Line 
• please let us know your child’s first and last name (please spell the last name), teacher and the reason for the absence

Tuesday September 30 – No school for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 

Wednesday October 9 -- Picture day! Retakes on November 5

Tuesday October 14th – School vaccinations
