Lockdown Practice Drill
As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, Acadia School will be conducting a lockdown practice drill with Calgary Police Service on Tuesday Sept 15 at 8:30 am. A continuous bell will ring to signal the start of the drill, and a sign will be posted on the front door exterior doors. During the drill, no one may enter or leave the building until the practice has been completed and the all-clear has been given. Students arriving late will not be permitted to enter the school until the drill is over, and parents will be required to wait outside. Staff will guide students through the procedure in a calm, age-appropriate manner to ensure they understand the expectations and feel supported throughout the practice. Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe learning environment for all. Please contact the office if you have any questions.

Book Drive and Sale
Give your books a second life! If you have books in good condition that you are no longer using, please consider donating them to the Grade 6 Annual Book Sale.
Donations will be accepted until September 23. Join us at the Annual BBQ on September 24 and stop by the Book Sale to support our Grade 6 students
Child & Youth Well-Being Family & Caregiver Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community.
Please see the attached poster with sessions designed to provide families with knowledge, tools, and strategies to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today. Awesome Acadian Program
At Acadia School, our students are Awesome Acadians! This means they strive to be Brave, Mindful, Kind, and Responsible. Students engage in goal setting and lessons focused on these attributes through the Physical Education and Wellness curriculum, and these concepts are reinforced throughout classroom learning experiences and our school community.
Each Friday morning, the entire school gathers for our Awesome Acadian Assemblies. During these celebrations, students are recognized as they earn their “puzzle pieces” for reaching personal goals and consistently demonstrating bravery, mindfulness, kindness, and responsibility. Students who collect all of their puzzle pieces earn an Awesome Acadian medal.
These are long-term achievements that, for many students, take the entire school year to accomplish. While not every student will earn a medal, every student is encouraged and celebrated for their individual growth and progress. Students develop at different rates, may join our school partway through the year, or face personal challenges that impact their progress. The focus of the Awesome Acadian Program is not only on earning a medal, but on building positive character, setting goals, and continuing to grow as a member of our school community. Every step forward is an achievement worth celebrating.
If you have a question, please reach out to the classroom teacher. As every teacher builds community in their classroom in their own unique way, so too is how they work through expectations for achieving their Awesome Acadian puzzle pieces and medal.
