Through the support of the Acadia School Council, students will have the opportunity to have a tennis residency at Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre, 295 90 Ave SE. This activity is within our walking zone and students will go once during the week on April 22 and again during the week of May 5. We need volunteers to walk with students to and from the Tennis Centre. This is an excellent opportunity that needs a volunteer in every classroom to work! Class-specific details with dates and times will be sent out next week. Thank you, School Council, for your generous support!

Everyone is welcome at the next School Council meeting, Wednesday April 10 6:30 PM to about 7:30 PM in room 14. We encourage you to attend in person, make some connections and listen to the grade 1 teachers describe the learning in grade 1. If unable to attend in person, you can also join us on Teams

Grade 6 students are preparing for Camp! Their parent meeting night is Thursday April 11 at 6pm in room 14. Please ensure you attend so that you can have all the details of this amazing trip.

On Monday, April 8 a partial solar eclipse will be visible in Calgary. The solar event will begin just before noon and conclude by 2 PM, with the maximum coverage occurring at 12:43 PM. All students at Acadia school will remain indoors from 11:50 AM until 2 PM. While this does impact the grade 4-6 lunch recess, and they will have the opportunity to go out before eating on Monday, then return inside by 11:42 AM.

During a solar eclipse, looking directly at the sun is dangerous. Safe viewing of the eclipse requires wearing specialized glasses or watching through a telescope or solar binoculars that have specialized lenses and should only be performed under the direction of a professional.  For more safety information can be found on the NASA website or from the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

If you have further questions, please contact the office.
