Indigenous Cultural Presentation and Bannock Making – May 12
On May 12, we are pleased to welcome Ms. Cécile from the CBE Indigenous Cultural Support Team. She will share the cultural significance of bannock and guide students in a learning experience about bannock making.
Students will receive a pre-packaged bannock (ingredients: flour, yeast, butter, salt). Please inform your child’s teacher of any allergies or dietary concerns before May 12. We are grateful for this opportunity to deepen students’ understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions!
CANstruction at Our School!
Our school is proud to take part in CANstruction, a creative and community‑focused initiative that combines teamwork, design, and compassion. Students work together to collect canned food and transform it into imaginative structures, learning the power of collaboration while giving back. Once the display is complete, all donated food is shared with the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank. We are excited to celebrate our students’ creativity and generosity as they build awareness around food security—one can at a time! Please send your cans beginning Monday May 11. Teachers may have specific requests, so please ask your student if they have a “wishlist”.
Rotary Bike Repair Day
On Tuesday, May 26 from 8:30 AM - 1:30 PM, the Centennial Rotary Club will be at Acadia School doing free repairs to student bikes. Thank you to those who have volunteered to help out! If they have a lock, please have them bring one to lock their bikes at the bike racks. Volunteers will help them bring their bike in when it’s their turn. If they do not have a bike lock, please bring the bike into the gym and they will be kept at the gym for the entire day.

Kindergarten Orientation – May 21 at 6:30 PM
We were delighted to welcome our newest learners and their families to Kindergarten Orientation Night! The evening provided families with an opportunity to meet the kindergarten teacher, explore classrooms, and learn more about daily routines and learning experiences in kindergarten. Families also received important information about the transition to school and ways to support learning at home as children prepare for their first year of school.
If you have friends, neighbours, or family members with children starting kindergarten, please spread the word—kindergarten registration for September is open! We also encourage families to save the date on May 21 as we look forward to welcoming our newest students and supporting a smooth and positive start to their school journey.
